DOI: 10.1177/026461969100900307 Keeping in touch with cathedralsThis article describes the range of facilities which are now provided for visually impaired visitors at several cathedrals in England and the detailed work involved in designing, trialling, producing and launching a 'Touch and Hearing Centre' The various reactions of blind and partially sighted people to the scheme are considered - their increased awareness of architecture, of tactile and acoustic beauty and of the distinctive characteristics of individual cathedrals The last section records the achievements of the project so far and looks at future prospects.
