Assessment procedu res for use with young visually handicapped children (Part one)

Recent seminars at the University of Birmingham examined many of the available procedures for the assessment of young visually handicapped children. This paper brings together some of the observations of experienced practitioners who attended the seminars, and provides some suggestions for the evaluation and use o f such material. In the second part (to be published in BJVI, Spring 1988) details will be given o f many o f the available procedures.
