Comparison with sighted subjects shows this visually impaired sample frequently to be significantly weaker, and gives some support for a more specific positive relationship between the degree of vision and the degree o f hand and finger strength. Neither the age o f onset of the visual impairment, the incidence o f prematurity, nor the type of school attended had any notable effect on the hand and finger strength of the subjects in this sample.
