Some aspects of current research on text design and its implications for the setting of braille

In this article the author outlines how recent approaches to designing printed text may have impli cations for the setting of braille. Two issues discussed in detail are: (1) ways of improving the comprehension of text; and (2) ways o f improving the layout o f text so that readers can more easily find their way around it.
