It was a unique group of scientists, doctors, health administrators and politicians, who met to consider practical measures to prevent dis ablement, which afflicts one in ten of the human race. Their nine recommendations for immediate aciton to respond to the public concern stimu lated by IYDP were unanimously agreed. *
